Why don't women's sports get more attention? Maybe we should go to a game once in a while. A recent dinner with IOU Sports' Executive Director, Bernell Hooker, and watching all of the fabulous women athletes participating in the Olympics really inspired me. Enough to get me to organize a group of friends to attend a women's hockey game on Sunday. It was fun and inexpensive (free!). The Brew City Blades are as serious about their sport as any male team and the game was fierce. In fact it was so much fun that I convinced Bernell that we should organize an IOU Sports "Game of the Month" to encourage more people to come out to watch women's sports. Next month, we're going to a roller derby game. After that basketball, baseball, rugby, and anything else that women want to play. Watch for info at http://www.iousports.org/ And don't miss the US Women's Olympic Hockey Team on Thursday night!
